Artist Biography
Linda Charles was born in 1969 in the South East of England. After studying textiles and fashion at Heriot-Watt University in Scotland, she launched her full-time career as a professional artist in the late 1990s.
Her background in textile and fashion continues to influence her work, which is known for its rich texture, layered surfaces and use of materials including gold and silver leaf.
Living in the Suffolk countryside, Linda draws inspiration from her surroundings while continuing to evolve her practice through new techniques and mediums.
With a career spanning over 25 years, Linda has exhibited widely across the UK and internationally. Her work gained recognition during the interior design boom of the early 2000s, becoming sought after by collectors and featured in galleries and private collections worldwide.
Linda’s more recent collections explore cultural narrative through couture portraiture influenced by Indian and East Asian aesthetics, alongside expressive animal studies.
She continues to push boundaries through experimentation with materials, storytelling and composition — creating work that connects emotionally as well as visually.
Her work is held in private collections and is available as original artworks and limited edition prints for collectors and interior spaces.
